Myanmar (Burma) tour in January 2009:

Itinerary:

7 Jan at 16.00 hrs meeting at Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Flight to Beijing

8. Jan arrival in Beijing Capitol Airport. Transfer to Jingduyuan hotel***

9 Jan : Beijing - Yangon

Transfer to the airport. Morning flight to Yangon (via Kunming). Arrive at Yangon International Airport . Meet and transfer to Hotel to check in. And then start orientation tour of Yangon visiting Sule Pagoda, a beautiful octagonal golden stupa dating over 2,000 years; and Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda - a colossal reclining Buddha, down town Yangon with its faded colonial atmosphere etc.., and end of the tour at Shwedagon Pagoda - over 2500 years old the world famous stupa.

Overnight at Panorama Hotel (Superior room).

10 Jan : Yangon - Kyaikhtiyo

Breakfast at Hotel and early morning five hours drive to Kyaikhtiyo crossing the Sittaung Bridge . Arrive at Kyaikhtiyo base camp and transfer to pick up truck for one hour ride to the transit junction. Continue for one hour of light hiking up to the Golden Rock summit.

Overnight at Kyaikhto Hotel (Standard room).

11 Jan : Kyaikhtiyo - Bago (was ancient capital of Mon Kingdom in 15th Century) - Yangon

Breakfast at Hotel and return drive to Yangon stopping at Bago to visit Shwemadaw pagoda, Shwethalaung reclining Buddha (55 meters long).

Overnight at Panorama Hotel (Superior room).

12 Jan : Yangon / Bagan

Breakfast at Hotel and transfer to airport for your Bagan flight. Visit Shwezigon Pagoda - built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine, Lacquer-ware making home cottage, Ananda Temple - King Kyansittha's masterpiece and the crowning achievement of the early style temple of architectur. Evening visit to Buphaya Pagoda to watch the sunset scene over the Ayeyarwaddy River .

Overnight at Kaytumaddi Dynastery.

13 Jan : Bagan

Breakfast at Hotel and take a visit of enchanting Nyaung Oo market; Shwesandaw (built by King Anawrahta in early 11th Century  displays a strong Mon influence with a steep stairway directly to the terraces for a superb view from the upper level), Shinpinthalaung, Dhammayangyi Temple, Thatbyinnyu Temple - the highest building on the Bagan plain, Sulamuni( was built by King Narapasitithu & is know for its murals dating from 11th - 12th century).

Overnight at Kaytumaddi Dynastery.

14 Jan : Bagan - Popa - Mandalay

Start your day with breakfast at the Hotel. After breakfast, visit to Mount Popa , the abode of nats(spirits), situated 40 miles southeast of Bagan. Sightseeing Mount Popa and environs. One may able to see the Sun Rise of Bagan, and over 700 monks go on their rounds for alms near Kyaukpadaung. The way by the roadside can see the locals climbing up the palm tree and making jaggery. Afternoon, proceed to drive Mandalay .

15 Jan : (Sagaing + Amarapura)

Breakfast at Hotel and visit Sagaing, covered with 600 white - painted pagodas and monasteries, Sagaing Hill is widely regarded as the religious  centre of Myanmar and is home of 3,000 monks and 100 meditation centers. Then visit to Amarapura, Mahagandayon monastery to observe the lunch process of hundreds of buddhist monks, U Bein wooden bridge, silk and cotton longyis weaving workshops.

Overnight at Nadi Myanmar Hotel (Superior room).

16 Jan : Mandalay / Heho - Pindaya - Inle

Breakfast at Hotel and transfer to airport for your Heho flight. Upon arrival at Heho airport and proceed to Pindaya (approx ;  2 ½ hours). Upon arrival at Pindaya and visit Pindaya cave known to the world as the home of the countless Buddha Images and shan paper making at the house. Then drive to Nyaung Shwe (approx 3 hrs).

Overnight at November Hotel (Superior room).

17 Jan : Inle

Breakfast at Hotel. Visit Phaung Daw Oo pagoda housing five sacred Buddha images, the Ngaphechaung (a museum like monastery where old belongings of many monasteries are restored) and enjoy rows of shops along the corridor up  hill. Wonder unique leg rowing fishermen, homes and monasteries stilts, floating gardens etc... and traditional silk weaving workshops.

18 Jan : Inle- Heho/ Sandoway (Thandwe)

Breakfast at Hotel and transfer to airport for your Thandwe flight. Upon arrival at Thandwe airport, transfer by shuttle bus from the arrangement of hotel. Enjoy blue sea, white sand and green coconut trees, and feel clear and fresh air environment.

Overnight at Silver Beach (Standard room).

19 - 21 Jan : Sandoway

Breakfast at Hotel and you may just relax at the Beach or study to the life style of local fishermen.

Overnight at Silver Beach (Standard room).

22 Jan : Sandoway/ Yangon

Breakfast at Hotel and transfer to the airport for return flight to Yangon . Arrive Yangon and check in hotel. (transfer only)

Overnight at Panorama Hotel.

23 Jan : Yangon /-

Breakfast at hotel and leisure. Then transfer to airport for INT'L departure flight to conclude this unique experience. (Transfer only)

Arrival in Beijing airport. ransfer to the hotel Jingduyuan***.

24. Jan. breakfast and transfer to the airport. Flight to Helsinki.

Arrival in Helsinki-Vantaa airport.
